Robotic Prostate Surgery

Robotic Prostatectomy is now accepted as the preferred surgical approach for men with clinically significant, localised prostate cancer.

Our approach to Robotic Prostate Surgery

The 3D magnification and precise, wristed movements provided by the robot allow for preservation of the continence mechanism as well as the nerves for erectile function with the aim of maintaining excellent quality of life following surgery.

With minimal discomfort after the robotic procedure, patients are typically back home on day one or two following the operation.

In select cases, men with a very large prostate from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) may be suitable for robotic surgery where the obstructive part of the prostate is enucleated using the robot (robotic simple prostatectomy).

At Sydney Urology Group both Dr Mehan and Dr Leslie offer robotic surgery for both public and private patients.
